Hickory Chips BBQ    

Hickory Chips started out cooking for his friends and family years ago.  In 2006, he went public with his now nearly famous bbq and sides.  Chip serves delicious hickory smoked barbequed chicken, ribs, beef and seafood within a 150-mile range of historic Appomattox, Virginia.  

The History of Hickory Chips BBQ

First things first…….it all began back in 1914.       F. T. Faulconer Sr. opened a country store in Amherst county, VA.  Mr. Faulconer had a long history of smoking his own meats and marketed other wares in his store.  As times changed, meat processing changed – like sugar-cured hams (better known as Country Hams).  This process went on till his death in 1968.  At that time, his son Dick Faulconer (Hickory Chips uncle) took over the business processing hams that were shipped all over our country and all over the world.  After he died, his son F. T. Faulconer II, processed hams for some years until the ham house was sold.  That was the end of a tradition.

Then along came Hickory Chips to carry on his family tradition of smoking meat products the old-fashioned way.

Hickory Chips began in 2006 and has vastly and rapidly expanded ever since.  He donates his time to working a lot of local events, charity fund-raisers, and cooking for the Commission on Aging.  Customers have been set in awe by the “Big Bad Wolf” (the smoker) and Hickory Chips unique sweet-tangy BBQ sauce developed from the legacy of his ancestors.  Since then, Hickory Chips has grown by word of mouth and the pure sampling and aromatic attraction of his awesome delicacies.

Hickory Chips has been really “been around”!!  You can find him most any place where there’s a crowd or just driving the “Hickory Chips BBQ Bus” and the “Big Bad Wolf” or simply following the line of traffic and aroma of “Smoking Butts” to the events.
